At the United Conservatory of Music and Arts (UCMA), we believe in nurturing young talent and fostering artistic expression. Our Group Acting Classes are the perfect stage for young actors aged 8-12 and 13-17 to embark on a captivating journey into the world of acting. Whether you’re a budding performer or a seasoned actor, UCMA offers an array of opportunities to explore, learn, and grow.
Acting Foundations (Ages 8-12)
This course is a perfect place for younger actors to take their first foray into stagecraft in a supportive group setting. Acting Foundations teaches the skills needed to understand character backstories, speak confidently on stage, express a wide range of emotions through your body, and explore a variety of scenes and mask work. Students perform twice a year at recitals in small group scenes and short one-act plays.
Actor’s Workshop (Ages 13-17)
With a focus on working through more complex, teenager-appropriate theater, Actor’s Workshop is a place to dig deeply into diverse texts. The workshop format focuses on learning through the study of monologues, group scenes, and short plays, and centers performance as a medium of expression. Students perform more extended scenes twice a year.
