Voice, Piano, Violin, and Guitar Instructor
Sarah Conniff is a coloratura soprano; she received her Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from California State University, Long Beach in 2018 and is soon beginning pursuit of her Master's degree in Opera. She has performed in several operas, including the role of The Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute by W. A. Mozart in Vienna, Austria with the Vienna Summer Music Festival. Other selected scenes she has performed include roles such as Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Madame Hertz in Der Schauspieldirektor, and Clorinda in La Cenerentola. She also performed in the U.S. premiere of The Perfect American by Philip Glass with Long Beach Opera. She been teaching here since summer of 2018. She is wonderful at working with students of all levels and ages. She teaches voice as well as piano, guitar and voice!

Q. What are the things you like most about teaching?
I love getting to know my students! It's a lot of fun for me to see how each one of my students approach things differently in their lessons.
Q. How do you inspire students during the lessons?
I try to inspire students in their lessons by reminding them of the progress they make-- it's always motivating to see how much you've learned, how far through the book you've gotten, or how easy the things you first struggled with are now!
Q. How did you get into music as a child?
I began in music with piano and voice lessons around age 9, but I fell in love with music fully when I began violin around age 10 playing in my school's string orchestra.
Q. What is your favorite type of music?
One of my favorite types of music is Opera--I particularly like French opera. But I like all sorts of music: classical, folk, rap, rock... the list goes on!
Q. What do you like most about teaching at United Conservatory of Music?
I love my coworkers here at UCM! All of our teachers and office staff are really lovely people-- genuine, friendly and fun to be around!
Q. What are some things most people don't know about you?
I love visual art! When I have the time, I love to paint. I also have a dog named Shadow; he's a maltese-poodle mix, also known as a Malte-poo!
