Composer, cellist, and pianist Nathan Nau grew up from a musical family. Nathan's first exposure to music was from his grandmother who was a pianist, piano teacher, and church organist. He attended Univeristy High School, a prestigious charter school devoted to music and academics located on the Fresno State campus, where he received 4 years of music theory instruction and played (cello and piano) in the orchestra, wind orchestra, jazz band, and concert choir. After high school, Nathan continued his general and music education at Fresno State, graduating with a BA in music composition at the end of 2017. He received composition instruction under Kenneth Froelich, Benjamin Boone, Brad Hufft, and piano instruction under Andreas Werz. He currently teaches, performs, and collaborates with individuals seeking original music for their projects or events.
